Apple released iOS 27 on September 14, 2026, and with it Siri AI: a conversational assistant with personal context, awareness of what is on screen, actions across apps, and what Apple calls broad world knowledge drawn from across the web. The models under it are Apple Foundation Models built in collaboration with Google's Gemini. It is the largest new AI answer surface to launch this year that is not a chatbot app, and for many iPhone owners it will be the first AI assistant they use every day.

How Siri AI Answers
Siri AI answers from three sources, and each one reaches brands differently.
- Personal context. Messages, mail, calendar, and notes. A brand shows up here only if it is already in the user's own data.
- App actions. Siri can take actions inside apps that support them. Launch examples include WhatsApp, Outlook, Audible, and Tripsy. A brand with a supporting app can be where the task gets done, not just a name in the answer.
- World knowledge. Answers about products, places, and topics use model knowledge plus information from the web. Apple has not said which search provider or sources are used.
Why This Matters More Than the Install Base Suggests
Chatbot apps are something users choose to open. Siri AI is on by default for eligible users, sits behind the side button and a systemwide "Search or Ask" gesture, and answers in a line or two. For a spoken answer, being the one name mentioned matters more than being one of ten links, because a list of options is often read aloud as a single suggestion.
The Gemini connection also has a practical side. Brands that show up well in Gemini and Google's AI surfaces are more likely to show up well in Siri AI's world-knowledge answers than a Siri-only strategy would suggest. We have not seen Siri AI and Gemini answers match word for word, so treat that as a working assumption and measure it.
Brand Visibility Implications
- Add Siri AI as its own tracking surface. Baselines from earlier Apple Intelligence no longer apply, because that version handed hard questions to ChatGPT.
- Check Apple Maps and Apple Business Connect. Local and place queries are the most common voice queries, and Apple's own data is the likely first source for them.
- Support App Intents if you have an app. An action Siri can take beats a mention Siri has to read out.
- Plan the EU separately. Siri AI launched without the EU, so European iPhone users still get the older assistant.
See Apple Intelligence citation patterns for the earlier behaviour this replaces.
Methodology
Launch dates, availability, and policy come from vendor primary sources wherever one exists: the OpenAI newsroom and ad policies, the Google Marketing Live 2026 announcement, the Apple Newsroom, the OpenAI Help Center, and the Chrome blog. Pricing, penetration, and install counts are not published by the vendors and come from trade press and third-party trackers (Digiday, Marketing Dive, MacRumors, BGR, and Chrome Web Store listing reports). Those figures are shown as ranges and labelled as estimates. Figures are as of September 2026.
How Presenc AI Helps
Presenc AI tracks brand mentions on Apple Intelligence and Gemini side by side, so teams can see whether Siri AI's answers follow their Gemini visibility or split from it.
