Meta Connect 2026 took place on September 23, 2026. Two themes ran through it: Muse, the personal agent Meta launched two weeks earlier, and wearables as the place people will talk to it. This page lists what Meta announced and then looks at why a hardware event matters for brand visibility.

Muse Was the Main Story
Most of the keynote's product news was hardware, but the strategic news was Muse. The connector announcement turned a two-week-old agent into something that can complete purchases at major retailers. The full partner list is in the Muse connector tracker, and the product itself is covered in Meta Muse: what it means for brands.
Why Glasses Matter for Brand Visibility
Glasses change the input. A phone assistant answers a typed or spoken question. An assistant on glasses can start from what the wearer is looking at: a product on a shelf, a restaurant front, a competitor's packaging. Meta says Muse on glasses will "act on what you're looking at." That makes physical presence a trigger for an AI answer.
- Answers are spoken or shown in one line. There is no list of ten results. One brand is named, which raises the value of being the default recommendation in a category.
- Visual recognition has to work. Packaging, signage, and logos that a vision model identifies correctly become part of discoverability.
- Local and retail queries move first. "Is this a good price" and "what else is like this" are the natural questions in a store.
- Camera-free glasses still count. The new audio glasses have no camera, so they depend entirely on voice and on what the assistant already knows about a brand.
For how voice changes recommendation behaviour, see voice AI brand visibility.
Connect and DevDay Side by Side
OpenAI held DevDay six days later and announced Dots, its own persistent agent. The two events show different routes to the same place. Meta is going through consumer hardware, a free tier, and retail partners. OpenAI is going through paid plans, workplace tools, and developers. See OpenAI DevDay 2026 and the head-to-head in OpenAI Dots vs Meta Muse.
Brand Visibility Implications
- Meta now has three AI surfaces to track. Meta AI inside its apps, Muse as a standalone agent, and the assistant on glasses. They have different users and different behaviour.
- Retail distribution feeds agent reach. Products sold through Muse's connected retailers can be bought by voice from a pair of glasses once that rollout arrives.
- International rollout is staged. Display glasses are expanding to five more countries, while Muse itself launched in the US. Regional brand teams should watch the dates rather than assume global availability.
Methodology
This page is built from vendor announcements and launch-week reporting, not from Presenc AI measurements. Primary sources are used wherever one exists, including Meta's Connect 2026 newsroom post and product blog, xAI's news page, and X's Original Content Rewards help page. Where a detail comes only from press coverage, such as TechCrunch on Dots, Bloomberg on Amazon and Muse, or PPC Land on X Ads MCP, the page says so. These products are new and none of the vendors has published independent success rates. Status as of October 1, 2026.
How Presenc AI Helps
Presenc AI tracks how Meta AI and other assistants describe and recommend your brand, so you have a baseline before voice and glasses surfaces narrow each answer to a single name.
