Cursor reached $4 billion in annualized revenue in early June 2026, according to Forbes reporting from June 8 that Dealroom summarised. Two months later, on August 14, 2026, SpaceX completed its acquisition of Anysphere, the company behind Cursor, in an all-stock deal that valued it at $60 billion. Cursor is now a wholly owned subsidiary inside the SpaceXAI division. Cursor has never published a monthly active user count. Its own material says "millions of developers," 64 percent of the Fortune 500, and more than 50,000 enterprises.

Only the November 2025 figure comes from Cursor directly. The rest are press reports that cite people familiar with the company. The mix has moved toward large customers: Bloomberg put enterprise at about 60 percent of revenue at the $2 billion mark, and the June reporting put it at about 75 percent. The same Bloomberg report said some individual developers and smaller startups had switched to Claude Code and that higher-spending corporate customers offset the loss.

SpaceX had listed on Nasdaq on June 12, 2026, four days before it exercised the option, so Cursor's former shareholders now hold stock in a public company.

The JetBrains data shows revenue and reach moving in different directions. Cursor's share of professional developers fell from 18 percent to 12 percent between January and mid 2026, with a sharp drop in China from 28 percent to 16 percent, while annualized revenue doubled over a similar period. That is consistent with fewer individual users and larger enterprise contracts. In the same survey Claude Code rose to 39 percent and Codex to 16 percent.

Status After the Acquisition

Cursor keeps its name and product and operates within SpaceXAI. Trade coverage of the closing says Cursor gains access to SpaceX's GPU capacity and that Grok models have since been trained with Cursor data. On August 28, OpenAI told SpaceX it would end Cursor's access to OpenAI models on November 12, 2026, saying it "cannot be confident that SpaceX will use our technology within our terms of service." Press reports quote chief executive Michael Truell as saying OpenAI models account for about 5 percent of Cursor usage. Cursor continues to offer models from Anthropic, Google, and SpaceXAI.

What Cursor Has Not Disclosed

  • Monthly active users. Figures such as 7 million appear on third-party pages without a company source.
  • A current daily active user number. The 1 million figure dates from 2025.
  • Revenue since the acquisition. No annualized revenue figure has appeared since June 2026, and the closing coverage we read gave none.
  • Paying customers and seats. The enterprise page counts companies, not paid users.
  • Margins. Cursor pays model providers for inference and has not published gross margin.

Brand Visibility Implications

  • Enterprise developers are the audience. With most revenue from large companies, Cursor's agent is making library and vendor choices inside corporate codebases, where a default pick can become a standard.
  • The model behind the answer is changing. Losing OpenAI models and adding SpaceXAI models shifts which model recommends tools inside Cursor. A brand that Grok describes poorly now has a second place where that matters. See Grok usage statistics.
  • Recommendations vary by tool. The same developer may get different suggestions in Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex because each routes to different models. See Cursor vs Claude Code vs Copilot vs Windsurf.

Methodology

This page is built from company disclosures, regulatory filings, published surveys, and press reporting, not from Presenc AI measurements. Primary sources are used wherever one exists, including Anthropic's Series G and Series H announcements, Cursor's Series D post, Mistral's Series D announcement, Alibaba's December quarter 2025 results, and the public npm download API. Survey and panel data come from JetBrains, The Pragmatic Engineer, and QuestMobile. Where a figure comes only from press coverage, such as The Decoder on OpenAI's DevDay numbers, Dealroom's summary of Forbes on Cursor, or TechNode on QuestMobile, the page says so. Company figures are self-reported and unaudited, and third-party estimates are labelled as estimates. Status as of October 1, 2026.

How Presenc AI Helps

Presenc AI tracks how Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok describe and recommend your product on developer and buyer prompts. Since Cursor routes to several of those models, that tracking shows where a tool recommendation is likely to favour you and where it is not.

Frequently Asked Questions

The most recent reported figure is $4 billion in annualized revenue in early June 2026, from Forbes reporting on June 8. Earlier milestones were over $1 billion in November 2025, which Cursor confirmed itself, $2 billion in February 2026, and $3 billion in late April 2026. No figure has been published since SpaceX completed the acquisition in August 2026.
SpaceX. It secured a right to buy Cursor on April 21, 2026, exercised it on June 16, and closed the all-stock acquisition of Anysphere on August 14, 2026 at a $60 billion valuation. Cursor is a wholly owned subsidiary within the SpaceXAI division.
Cursor has not published a monthly active user count. Its Series D post in November 2025 said millions of developers, and Bloomberg reported more than 1 million daily active users in 2025. Its enterprise page lists 64 percent of the Fortune 500 and more than 50,000 enterprises. In the JetBrains survey run from May to July 2026, 12 percent of professional developers used Cursor at work, down from 18 percent in January.
Not after November 12, 2026, unless the two companies reach a new agreement. OpenAI notified SpaceX on August 28, 2026 that it would end Cursor access to its models on that date and would not supply new models in the meantime. Cursor continues to offer models from Anthropic, Google, and SpaceXAI.
