Why Fetch Count Is a Better Demand Signal Than Impressions
Most "top pages" reports come from Google Search Console and rank by impressions or clicks. That tells you what humans search for. It does not tell you what AI products consider important enough to keep checking. The fetch count from AI crawlers is a different demand signal, often not correlated with impressions, and frequently more useful for content prioritisation. The list below ranks individual URLs by their total AI crawler fetch count during the month, attributing fetches to the largest contributing bot for each URL. Patterns and qualitative ranks are reported in place of absolute counts because the absolute volume of a single domain is less interesting than which URLs concentrated attention.

What This Ranking Tells Us
The top of the list is dominated by hub pages, not specific articles. This is the strongest empirical version of the hub-and-spoke argument: AI crawlers concentrate their attention on a small number of high-fanout URLs, then propagate from those hubs to spokes during specific deeper crawls. If your hub pages are weak (thin content, missing lastmod, slow to load) every page that depends on them for crawl flow is also at risk.
The second observation is the heavy tilt toward research and comparison content. /research, /research/state-of-llms-txt-2026, /research/ai-search-statistics-2026, /research/chinese-open-source-llm-comparison-2026, and /compare all rank in the top 12. This is consistent with what AI products actually do: they cite statistics, comparisons, and structured analyses far more than they cite generic guide content. The implication for content strategy is to invest in research and comparison formats first when the goal is AI citation, not generic SEO traffic.
The third observation is that the LLM release briefs (/llm-releases and /llm-releases/gpt-5-5) rank surprisingly high for being recent additions. Recency drives crawl interest. AI bots check fresh content far more aggressively than they re-check evergreen content, because the cost of missing a model release is higher than the cost of re-checking a stable definition. This is a useful counter-intuition: in AI crawl economics, freshness amplifies attention more than authority does.

Three concrete takeaways. First, your hub pages are doing far more work than your content audit probably credits them for. Treat them as production infrastructure: keep them fresh, keep them fast, keep them well-linked, and update lastmod aggressively when sub-content changes. Second, research and comparison content earns disproportionate AI crawler attention compared to generic how-to content; if AI citation is the goal, weight your roadmap accordingly. Third, recent content gets recrawled aggressively, so the period right after publish is the highest-leverage window for getting cited, which means the worst time to publish is right before a long quiet period.
Methodology
Data source: Cloudflare Worker logging every inbound request to presenc.ai during April 2026 to a Cloudflare D1 store. URLs are normalised to canonical form before counting. AI crawler attribution is by declared user agent string. URLs requested fewer than 30 times during the month are excluded to avoid noise. Ranking is by total AI crawler fetch count regardless of bot identity.
