What Is Brand Hallucination?

Brand hallucination occurs when an AI model generates factually incorrect information about your specific brand, company, product, or team. This is a subset of the broader AI hallucination problem, but it carries unique risks because false claims about your brand can damage reputation, confuse potential customers, and create legal liability. Examples include AI models claiming your product has features it doesn't, attributing a competitor's security breach to your company, inventing partnerships that don't exist, or fabricating executive quotes.

Brand hallucinations emerge from several sources: conflation with similarly named entities, outdated training data, insufficient training data coverage (where the model fills gaps with plausible-sounding fiction), and cross-contamination from negative content about other companies in the same category.
