Mistral AI's last on-record revenue figure is an annualized run rate above $400 million, which chief executive Arthur Mensch gave to the Financial Times in February 2026. He said it was up from about $20 million a year earlier. On September 8, 2026, when Mistral announced a €3 billion Series D at a valuation of more than €21 billion, Mensch said the company was "on track to surpass $1 billion in annual recurring revenue before the year is out." As of October 1, 2026 we found no report that the $1 billion mark has been crossed. Mistral is private and does not publish audited accounts.

Only the rows attributed to Mensch are company statements. The Sacra rows are an outside research firm's estimates, and other trackers disagree with them: GetLatka lists $42 million for 2024. Sacra dates the $400 million level to January 2026, while The Next Web places it in February. Treat everything before 2026 as approximate.

The Series C and Series D rows are from Mistral's own announcements. Earlier rounds are from press coverage collected on Wikipedia, and round labels for those vary between sources. Mistral called the Series D "the largest equity fundraising round ever completed by a European technology company." New investors include Advent, BlackRock funds, and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The valuation nearly doubled in twelve months, from €11.7 billion to more than €21 billion, which TechCrunch converted to about $24.4 billion.
At the February run rate, the September valuation was roughly 60 times annualized revenue. If Mistral reaches its $1 billion target the multiple falls to about 24. Both are our arithmetic on the reported figures.
Where the Revenue Comes From
Mistral has not published a revenue breakdown. What is on record:
- Geography. About 60 percent of revenue came from Europe as of early 2026, with the rest split between the United States and Asia, according to coverage of the Financial Times interview.
- Enterprise customers. Mistral's Series D announcement says it supports more than 125 global enterprises across 20 countries and names Airbus, ASML, and HSBC. The February coverage counted more than 100 enterprise accounts and also named TotalEnergies and several European governments.
- Revenue lines. Sacra describes four: usage-based API spending, enterprise subscriptions for private and on-premise deployments, paid tiers of the Le Chat assistant, and co-development and services contracts.
- Compute. Mistral is building its own capacity. The $830 million debt facility funds 13,800 Nvidia chips for a data center at Bruyères-le-Châtel near Paris. Mistral also plans a €1.2 billion, 23 megawatt site in Sweden, which Mensch said should generate more than €2 billion in revenue over five years. TechCrunch reports a target of 1 gigawatt in Europe by 2030.
The pattern is large contracts with European companies and governments that want models they can run on infrastructure they control. That is a different base from labs whose revenue is led by consumer subscriptions. See Mistral and European AI sovereignty and the AI lab revenue and valuation comparison.
What Mistral Has Not Disclosed
- Recognized annual revenue. Every public figure is a run rate or a target. No full-year revenue number has been published for 2024 or 2025.
- A current run rate. Nothing more recent than February 2026 is on record, apart from the statement that the $1 billion target is on track.
- The split by product. No shares for API, enterprise, Le Chat, or compute.
- Profitability. No margin, loss, or cash burn figures.
- Le Chat paying subscribers. Not published.
Listing prospects are covered in the Mistral IPO watch, and adoption in Mistral usage statistics.
Brand Visibility Implications
- Mistral's users are enterprise buyers in Europe. The models answer questions inside banks, manufacturers, and public bodies. For a company selling to those buyers, what Mistral says about a vendor is part of procurement research.
- Private deployments are hard to observe. Much of the usage runs on premises or in customer-controlled clouds, so public traffic data understates it. Testing the models directly is the only way to see what they say.
- European-language sources carry weight. Coverage in French, German, Spanish, and Italian is the material these deployments draw on. See Mistral citation patterns.
Methodology
This page is built from company disclosures, regulatory filings, published surveys, and press reporting, not from Presenc AI measurements. Primary sources are used wherever one exists, including Anthropic's Series G and Series H announcements, Cursor's Series D post, Mistral's Series D announcement, Alibaba's December quarter 2025 results, and the public npm download API. Survey and panel data come from JetBrains, The Pragmatic Engineer, and QuestMobile. Where a figure comes only from press coverage, such as The Decoder on OpenAI's DevDay numbers, Dealroom's summary of Forbes on Cursor, or TechNode on QuestMobile, the page says so. Company figures are self-reported and unaudited, and third-party estimates are labelled as estimates. Status as of October 1, 2026.
How Presenc AI Helps
Presenc AI tracks how Mistral and other assistants describe and recommend your brand across the prompts your buyers use. For companies selling into Europe, that shows whether the model inside a customer's own deployment names you.
